Acromag

Acromag is a multi-million dollar international corporation that combines more than 50 years of process monitoring and control experience with a solid background in high-tech computer design. Established in 1957, Acromag built its reputation designing critical measurement instrumentation equipment for the petrochemical and aerospace industries. Acromag, Inc. was soon recognized internationally as a leading designer of analog and digital control products for the industrial I/O market.

Ethernet I/O Modules

Analog IO

Acromag’s Ethernet/IPModbus TCP I/O, and Profinet products offer a variety of solutions for remote I/O, distributed process control, and factory automation applications. Analog and discrete Ethernet I/O modules interface sensors and actuators to controllers with Modbus TCP/IP or Ethernet/IP CIP protocol network communication.

EtherNet/IP (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) is traditional Ethernet combined with an industrial application layer protocol targeted to industrial automation. This application layer protocol is the Control and Information Protocol (CIP™). EtherNet/IP was created in an attempt to overcome the shortcomings of traditional IEEE 802.3 Ethernet as applied to the industrial automation world.

Modbus TCP/IP uses TCP/IP and Ethernet to carry the data of the Modbus message structure between compatible devices. That is, Modbus TCP/IP combines a physical network (Ethernet), with a networking standard (TCP/IP), and a standard method of representing data (Modbus as the application protocol). Essentially, the Modbus TCP/IP message is simply a Modbus communication encapsulated in an Ethernet TCP/IP wrapper.

Profinet controllers are programmed with a special Profinet Configuration tool, like the Step7 from Siemens.

Modbus RTU I/O Modules

Modbus RTU I/O Modules

Acromag’s BusWorks 900MB Series is a high-performance collection of analog and discrete I/O modules with Modbus-RTU network communication. These units feature universal input/output ranges and an intelligent microcontroller to provide extreme flexibility and powerful monitoring and control capabilities. BusWorks modules are ideal for a wide variety of distributed I/O applications including data acquisition, control, process monitoring, and test & measurement.

To ensure unsurpassed performance, these I/O modules employ the latest digital technology. State-of-the-art flash microcontrollers plus optically isolated input, output, power, and network circuits increase noise/transient immunity and prevent ground loops. Status LEDs provide diagnostic feedback and visually indicate which channels are outside their calibrated range.

Sophisticated watchdog timer functions allow the application to define the module’s failsafe output state. The watchdog timer invokes the failsafe condition when communication between the host and module exceed a duration specified by the application. For further security, a second hardware watchdog timer monitors the microcontroller for failed operations or a “lock-up” condition and automaticaly resets the unit.

Profibus-DP I/O Modules

Profibus-DP I/O Modules

Acromag’s BusWorks 900PB series is a high-performance line of network-ready analog and discrete I/O modules. They feature universal input/output ranges and an intelligent microcontroller to provide extreme flexibility and powerful monitoring and control capabilities. Select from a variety of analog and discrete I/O modules to meet your application requirements.

Each module provides a direct network interface for your I/O signals. Unlike “block I/O” devices that combine large, expensive processor blocks with snap-on I/O terminal blocks, 900PB modules handle the network interface and I/O processing in one, compact multi-channel module. This space-saving approach is very cost-effective for systems that need to add a small quantity of I/O channels at existing control sites or network to new remote sites.

To ensure high performance, modules feature an advanced microcontroller techology. On-board address switches and automatic baud rate detection (up to12 Mbps) simplify installation. Four-way isolation prevents ground loops and increases noise immunity. Indicator LEDs and self-diagnostics help to quickly catch problems.

Signal Conditioners, Transmitters and Converters

Signal Conditioners, Transmitters and Converters

Process transmitters isolate, filter amplify, and convert sensor signals to 4-20mA current or 0-10V voltage signals for interfacing with controllers and other instrumentation. Select from 2-wire loop-powered 4-20mA transmitters, 3-wire DC-powered transmitters, or 4-wire AC/DC-powered transmitters. 3-wire and 4-wire models are available as 4-20mA transmitters or voltage transmitters. DIN-rail and field-mount version are available. Configuration is easy with Windows software, push-buttons, switches, or pots for span/zero settings depending on the series.

4-20mA Signal Isolators

4-20mA Signal Isolators

Signal isolators receive a 4-20mA process current inputs and provide an isolated 4-20mA output signal. One multi-channel units, each channel operates independently and is isolated from the others to prevent interaction between channels. Galvanic isolation eliminates ground loops, reduces noise, and blocks transient signals.

2-Wire Loop-Powered and 4-Wire AC/DC-Powered Splitters

2-Wire Loop-Powered and 4-Wire AC/DC-Powered Splitters

Signal splitters receive 4-20mA process current inputs and provide two identical isolated 4-20mA output signals. Each channel operates independently and is isolated from the others to prevent interaction between channels. Galvanic isolation eliminates ground loops, reduces noise, and blocks transient signals.
